Welcome to the Pig

Since 1887, the Pig & Whistle Hotel has stood as a testament to Trentham’s rich history and its Irish heritage.

Tucked away on a quiet corner, this legendary pub has been a cornerstone of the community, echoing the stories of early settlers from Ireland for over 138 years. Originally the Clare Morris Hotel, it bore the name of its first publican, Maurice O’Connell, whilst paying homage to his homeland in County Clare, Ireland.

We welcome you to our pub in a paddock, where history and hospitality entwine.

We operate and live on the land of the Dja Dja Wurrung People.

We acknowledge the Dja Dja Wurrung People as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we operate and live and pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.
