Ruby Neath is the Operations & HR Manager at the Pig & Whistle Hotel in Trentham East, Victoria, and the first point of contact for people interested in joining our team.
From your initial enquiry and interview through to onboarding, training and ongoing development, Ruby oversees recruitment and helps ensure we find people who are the right fit for both the role and the culture of the Pig & Whistle.
At just 20 years of age, Ruby has progressed rapidly into a senior position within the business. She joined the Pig & Whistle at a young age and quickly demonstrated an exceptional ability to work with people, take responsibility and understand the detail that goes into creating a great hospitality business.
Today, Ruby is responsible for key areas of our people and operations, including recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, staff training and development, workplace culture and operational standards.
As part of our recruitment and team-development process, Ruby also works with Thomas International behavioural and workplace profiling tools, helping us better understand people’s strengths, communication styles and how different personalities can work successfully together.
Ruby has a particular eye for detail and customer experience. She understands that great hospitality starts with great people, and a major part of her role is helping build a team that is welcoming, capable, confident and genuinely enjoys looking after our guests.
Alongside her role at the Pig & Whistle Hotel, Ruby is studying a Diploma of Commerce at RMIT University in Melbourne, with plans to continue into a Bachelor of Business.
Ruby is also a qualified real estate agent and previously worked within the real estate industry before choosing to focus on her hospitality management career and further studies.
Pig & Whistle Hotel owner and publican Eammon Hamilton says Ruby’s potential was apparent from very early in her career:
